I suck at blogging, I know, but I got a job!

Please don't hate me, I love you guys. And I know, I'm supposed to be updating MORE but my blogging muse has been seriously lacking as of late. Plus with school and other life stressors, I haven't been able to blog as much as I'd like. School ends in a few weeks though, so I'm not making any promises but I would like to be back and updating more often.

But I need your help on a few things if you'd be willing to help out. I just want to know, what kind of blogs would you like to see from me? I know I still have to start my vacation blog series, but other than that I am open to writing about pretty much everything. I also kinda want to improve on my writing skills in general so I was thinking of posting short stories on the blog. What do yo guys think of that idea? Would you be willing to read my stories displayed on this blog? Seriously, any ideas will be HAPPILY accepted at this point!

As for my life, well it has just been a rush to the finish line as school comes to an end next week! I cannot wait for summer. I am so OVER school it's crazy. I've decided to take a semester off, but I don't know how to tell my family. How would you go about doing that? I also decided that I'm going to apply for BYU Idaho ^_^.

And I got a job! It's just at my parent's auto mechanic shop working in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays but it's a job! I can't complain, can I? So now I won't have the excuse of not having enough time to get on the internet and blog, because in reality I now have all the time in the world. Since I usually do all the actual work stuff when I get here in the morning.

Okay, this post is getting a little lengthy so I'll wrap it up here. Really, any ideas will be welcome here!
One more thing, for my LDS followers. I started a new blog on tumblr about waiting for LDS missionaries. But I was just wondering are there any LDS folk out there who waited for a missionary either succesfully or not? I was thinking about having guest posters over on that blog about waiting and the outcome. For more information or if you'd like to participate just shoot me an e-mail and let me know!

Weekend Happies!

Mamarazzi is seriously one of my favorite bloggers of ALL time.
(that kinda sounded like a Kanye moment, huh?)
Well, if Mamarazzi was up for a VMA & someone else won,
I'd totally pull a Kanye West. Seriously.

Anyways, since she's is awesome & has awesome link ups,
I'm almost always linking up over there.
And today is time for another link up!
My Weekend Happy List!

Photobucket

First of all, it's the weekend! Which is reason enough to be happy :)
But here are some other things that are making me smile this weekend....

NYC Nail Polish:  i love NYC Nail Polish. It's seriously my favorite brand. It's cheap & long lasting. That is my kind of perfect. I just got 3 new NYC brand colors that I can't wait to use!

Ward Conference Weekend: This weekend is my ward's conference! Which means conference dinner tonight! The RS is going to be dancing to Cupid's Shuffle, which I'm not too keen about though. I love the song, but not for RS.

The Last Song: I'm currently reading this book for my book review blog and I love it! I fell in love with the movie (and cried and cried while watching it), so I of course had to read the book. Plus, I'm kinda obsessed with Miley Cyrus. She's a bad influence on little kids, but IDK I sorta love her.

Speak Now by Taylor Swift: I don't think anyone on here understands my love for T. Swizzle. Seriously, if I knew Tay in real life, we'd totally be BFFL!

Awesome Bloggy Friends!: I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you by reading your blogs, and the awesome comments that you send me. I love all of your comments & I do take the time to read them (uhm...almost obsessively) and I always try to respond!

The way this tie turned out!: I was seriously having major issues with this tie when I first started to make it. Like, I wanted to throw my sewing machine out the window & toss in the towel on sewing forever. But after coming back to it with a clear mind, I finished it and I love it! I guess that just goes to show that persistance and patience really pays off! Plus I know Elder M. will love it!

My birthday is in two days! It's so funny, I'm unusually calm about this birthday. Usually, I have a countdown going on facebook from January 1st, but this year I didn't count down at all. I'm excited for my birthday, of course, but I'm just really calm about it. Does this mean I'm geting old?! Haha ;P

those are my weekend happies!
what's on your happy list?

Decisions of the Important Sort.

I usually HATE doing multiple posts in a day.
So, I'm sorry.
But I needed to write this post.
Because I need your help with something.
Don't worry, it's not horrible,
I just need some advice, from unbiased people.

OK, so I'm doing what every 20yo college student does,
Contemplating life & where the next step will take me.
In my contemplation, I decided that I wanted to get away
Just for a little while, you know?
For a long time, I wanted to serve a mission for my church,
But recently, I decided against it.
While serving a mission is amazing & such a blessing, it's not for me.
Not right now at least.

So then, I decided that I would apply for the Disney College Internship thing.
Buuut....I didn't make the first round of interviews.
Which is okay.
I mean, it's not like I'm totally in love with Disney
& it's not like my g-ma put down 20,000 bucks (not all at one time)
to purchase a Disney Vacation Club Membership.
I mean, no hard feelings at all :)
It's just not what Heavenly Father wanted for me.

Well, now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do next.
I know for sure that I want to continue school.
But I don't want to go to UH Manoa
And HPU is a little too expensive for me...

So, I've contemplated the BYU schools.
Specifically BYU Hawaii & BYU Provo.
But, I can't apply to either school until the summer,
Which means I'd have to try for Winter Term
& which means that I wouldn't be in school in the fall.

I love both schools,
but I'm more taken with BYU Provo.
I mean, BYUH is beautiful, but it wouldn't be a big change.
Well, sure it would be 1.5 hours away from home,
But still close enough.
I love everything about BYU Provo.
Except the price.
I mean, I have no money.
Not even to attend BYUH.

But if I took the fall semester off,
I could work & start selling stuff on my etsy shop.
I know that a Church School is what Heavenly Father
wants of me.
As soon as I got denied the Disney thing, I prayed
& immediately my thoughts were to check out the church schools.
But now how do I get there?
Nephi 3:7 is a favorite scripture of mine, so I know that
He wouldn't give me a commandment (or inspiration)
without giving me a way to get there.

I don't know.
What would you guys do?
Take the semester off and work to get to a church school
or
Just apply to UH Manoa where I know that I'll get in?
And which school would you rather go to?
BYU Hawaii or BYU Provo?

Those questions are more for the lds peeps.

So for everyone else, do you have any financial advice?
Any scholarship suggestions?
Anything having to do with money?
Budgeting tips?

I seriously need all the help I can get!

December 30, 2010

such a wonderful, happy day!

Hi guys! I'm in such a lovely mood today! Aren't good moods just the cherry on top of the best ice cream sundae you've ever had? I say yes.

Why am I in such a good mood, you ask? The sun is out and shining. I got to go shopping for the last of my Christmas presents (late I know, but whatevs). Tomorrow is New Years Eve and it's soon going to be New Years Day AKA my favorite holiday EVER.

Oh, and I got a letter from the Elder Dude this morning :). Letters from the dude always put me in a 50000 billion times better mood. He's super awesome like that.

I never really talked about the dude on the blog here for personal reasons. But he's a good friend of mine and he's currently serving his mission in Japan. He's been out for a year already (it went by SO fast!) and he's a magnificent missionary! And...I miss him super a lot.

Aside from the fact that we're just close friends, I am also highly convinced that we're also soul mates and that I'm going to marry him (of course, any worthy man would make a lovely husband...blah blah blah). Which is why I don't mention him on the blog very often. A lot of people don't have the same awesome intuition that I do and they believe that I am absolutely nutso for believing that we will be married one day. In my opinion, they're the ones that know nothing and they're non-believing, anti-love people who have never been in a relationship before so who are they to tell me that he won't be my hubs one day. Besides, even if we don't end up married one day, I'm still lucky enough to call him my friend.

Anywaaaay...I sent him a package for his birthday in November before I left for Florida. And every single day since I got back, I've been waiting for a thank you letter. Haha. He's a good boy, he's not the type to not say thank you. And finally a letter came today! He also sent my some pictures and super adorable japanese stickers which I love!
That does happen to be the dude in the picture, but it's not a clear one, so I'm comfortable putting THAT on the blog.

Also, I just woke up when the letter was received and when I took that picture. Excuse my face. LOL.

He's a pretty awesome dude and I definitely can't wait to share more about him in the future. You know, when we get married :P.

Later Days!

P.S. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day of posting! I'll be doing an official 2010 recap and 2010 in pictures! I'm soooo excited. I already know that 2011 is going to be an AMAZING year!

Aloha Po'alima!

Happy Friday, friends! While friday isn't really my favorite day of the week, I always look forward to it because of the possibilities it holds. Not only do I get a break from work and school (well...not this weekend) for a few days, but it now means fun linky parties. Sooo, here are some for today!

Fun Fridays
My fun for this weekend comes in the form of three beautiful girls and one handsome little boy. I'm going to be spending the weekend at my Aunty and Uncle's house helping them pack and watch the kiddies for a bit. I plan on helping them get their stuff packed, while finishing packing my own bag. Also, we're going to bake! Hopefully...

Tonight, I'm going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! I am so stoked it's crazy. I've been a Harry Potter fan for as long as I can remember so this moment is actually very surreal for me.

Deathly Hallows in honor of Deathly Hallows!

Also on the agenda for this weekend is homework (still in overtime with that).

AND...The La'ie Hawaii temple Rededication!
please don't steal this picture. i know, it's gaawwgouuss. but it's mine.
Even though I don't get to go, it's still an amazing celebration. Plus, that means that the prophet is here in Hawaii! How cool is that?!

Now time for the linky partiess! First up is Five Question Friday hosted by Mama M over at Five Crooked Halos!

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

I don't think I loathe any Christmas songs. Like, I genuinely like pretty much anything. Oh wait, never mind. I don't really like Grandma Got Run Over by A Reindeer. Not sure why, it just freaks me out. Must be some suppressed childhood thing.

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?
One day, when I'm married and actually have a S.O. I'm sure that I will love cuddling at night. I'm really big on cuddling.
3. Have you ever had surgery?
Nope. I guess I've just been blessed like that.

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?
Whenever there are awesome sales! This year, we had all our shopping done by September.

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

My own house, for sure. That would be the ultimate luxury.

And now, Fill in the Blank Fridays with Lauren!

1.   My Thanksgiving plans this year will include       Landing in Florida for vacation! Possibly dinner at Denny's with my family. Well, technically my Aunty's family, but I consider them my own family now too. Hey, this will be my second year spending Thanksgiving with them!   .

2.  My favorite Thanksgiving was   all of the the thanksgivings of my youth. We used to go to my Tutu's house with pretty much my entire family and have a huge feast. We stopped that after my Tutu passed away. So sad :(  .

3.  My signature Thanksgiving dish is       I'm gonna go with Cream Cheese Pumpkin crunch. I've never made it, but in my mind they're delicious.     .

4.  My favorite Thanksgiving food is   Stuffing and mashed potatoes. I adore stuffing and mashed potatoes!  .

5.  Thanksgiving free association!      family, fun, love, fooooodd!!! .

6.  Thansgiving is        the best time of year. It's my favorite holiday. It's a reminder of all the good things that we have in our lives.    .

7.  I am thankful for       my wonderful family, the church and awesome church leaders, growth throughout the year, change, being able to do things that are fun     .

BoostMyBlogFriday

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! If I'm not around for the next few days, just remember that's a good thing, cuz I gotta get my homework on!

Lost In Thought Sunday: Happy Birthday Papa!! (and some thoughts from Church)

Welcome all to my very first themed blog entry. Let me explain a little about 'Lost In Thought Sunday.' Originally, I was going to call it Spiritual Sunday and I was going to share ideas, feelings, and talks from church. But I thought about it and realized that people don't necessarily want or need to hear my opinion about spiritual matters. Regardless, Sundays are still my most thoughtful and reflective days. Sunday is pretty much the only day that I can sit and really think about everything that happened. Which is why I decided to make the theme Lost In Thought. There will be some days where I'm feeling super spiritual and I'll want to talk about that, and there will be some days where I just want to talk about some world issue that has been on my mind. This way, I'm not just limited to spiritual things on Sundays.

For my first LiTS blog, I wanted to wish someone very, very important to me a very Happy Birthday!
Happy 65th Birthday Papa!

Today would have been IS my Grandpa's 65th birthday and I am sure that he is having a wonderful party up there in heaven with his parents and sisters, as well as other loved ones that aren't here on earth anymore.

Let me just tell you a little bit about my Papa. If you met him, I'm sure that you'd love him. Everyone did. He is loving and kind and always did things for people when asked. He raised my from the time that I was a baby and passed away about a month and a half short of my 18th birthday.
Last picture taken of me and my Papa at my Senior Luau, Oct. 2007

I'm not going to lie, his passing was really hard on me. Like I said, I was just a month away from my 18th birthday and about 5 months away from my High School graduation. I was upset. But, I didn't show it. That's where I was wrong. I tried to be too strong when I should have just been mad, sad and let the depression go. But in a way, I'm glad that I wasn't too bad. I think that I came out a stronger person. Either way, I still miss him and I cannot wait to see him again in Heaven.

This is where my gratitude for the church comes in. I'm so glad for the teachings of the church, especially the Plan of Salvation and Eternal famillies. I am  incredibly grateful that one day, not only will I get to see my grandpa today, but my children and my future husband will also get to meet him.

OK, now I just wanted to post a little blurb about some stuff that we talked about in church today. Let me just say that I am the youngest in my Relief Society class. I guess that's something everyone has to go through at some point though, huh?

Today, our RS president taught on President Monson's General RS meeting talk from General Conference last month. I didn't get the chance to read or listen to President Monson's talk, but hearing a lesson based off of it was great. I guess that the basic message that President Monson had was counseling the women not to judge. Personally, I think that our RS president was inspired to teach that message in our ward because we have a lot of problems with judgment and judgmental people in our ward. Having a lesson on not judging but only loving was a good thing.

In the talk, President Monson quotes Mother Teresa. I love Mother Teresa. She served God and she truly loved him. She was an inspired woman and she is an inspiration to me.

The lesson really made me look inward at myself and made me think about what I can do to change myself. I don't claim to be perfect, nor do I claim that I never pass judgment. That is definitely something that I need to work on, which is why I was grateful to have that lesson.

In our YSA class, we talked about repentance and becoming worthy. With the rededication of the La'ie Hawaii temple right around the corner, one of the things that has been a theme throughout the temple district and especially in our ward has been repentance. I always enjoy talking about repentance, just because it's something I'm going through right now and it's always good to be reassured that repentance is in fact a gift and not a punishment.

Well, those are my thoughts for the day. I hope that you all have a wonderful week!

XOXO,
