Linky Tuesday!

Oh hey! It's tuesday again. And it just so happens that i'm procrastinating right now. Which of course means.....linky parties! Haha. Enjoy!

1. What type of home do you currently reside in? (house, apartment, etc.)
I live in a town house. The same exact house that I've been living in since birth.
2. If you could completely redecorate one room in your home, what room would you pick, why, and what would you do to it?
Well, I'm in the middle of redecorating my bedroom, so I've got that one covered. But maybe the kitchen. Or the bathroom! Both rooms are in serious need of a make over!
3. What is your favorite place to gain inspiration for your home decor style?
All of these blogs I follow! Everyone has such beautifully decorated homes! I'm always like "Oh yeah! I wanna do that in MY house one day." I also watch a lot of HGTV.
4. What is your favorite piece of decor in your home?
Currently it is my desk. I love it. It's small, but it's absolutely perfect for me.
5. What do you want visitors to feel when they visit your home? Do you think your home gives off that feeling?
When I have my own home, I want people to feel comfortable and like they're in their own home. I've always dreamed that my home would be open and welcoming, somewhere that people would want to come to all the time! That's what I plan on doing when I get my own place.
6. Describe your home in one word and explain why you chose that word.
Memories. I grew up in this house. All of my childhood memories come from this house and this neighborhood. It has played a big role in who I am today.
7. What are some predominant colors or patterns in your home?
Eh, the house has no theme really, but in my room the predominant color is green (favorite color much?). When I have my own house, I can see myself using different shades of yellow and green a lot.
8. What is your favorite room in your home and why?
My bedroom! It's the only place I can really go to get away from life, especially since my family moved in and they have 5 kids under the age of 12. It gets pretty crazy, but my room is MY place, no one can come in unless invited.
9. Do you take a hands-on or DIY approach to projects around your home or do you enlist or hire help?
I'm definitely more of a hands on person. I do take note from other bloggers and people on the internet, but for the most part, I can do things by myself. I inherited a lot of skills like that from my grandpa. Usually, I can just look something up and teach myself how to do it.
10. Where is your favorite place to shop for home furnishings?
Craigslist or thrift shops. I do want to buy at least the living room furniture brand new after I get married and have my own home. And of course, I think I'd want a brand new bedroom set eventually and definitely a new nursery set when I have my first kid. But I can deal with hand me downs for the most part.

Top 2 Favorite Items from 2010!
1.  My Ollivanders Wand!
I've never shared this baby with you guys yet, so aren't you in luck! I love that I got to pick my own wand when I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. My dream was to have a wand of my very own and I absolutely love mine!
isn't she beautiful? i'm finally a real witch!
2. My MacBook
At the beginning of the year, the screen on my old macbook got cracked and I freaked out majorly! So, my grandma bought me a new one. It's the white plastic unibody one and it is amazing. I really couldn't go back to a PC after having a mac for so long, so I was so scared when the old one broke.

1. Did you make any New Year's Revolutions?
It's not really a resolution, more of a goal. My goal is to be a better me every single day.2. What are some goals you have for 2011?
Uhm. To be a better me every day? Haha, other than that, I'm teaching myself how to sew (which is interesting so far), so I want to get better at that. I also want to do more crafty things more often.
3. What is something that you got for Christmas?
My sewing machine! I love it soooo much!
4. Did you see any good movies over the holiday season?
TANGLED. Need I emphasize anymore? That movie is the cutest thing I've seen in a while and I already adore Disney! Flynn Rider is my man!
5. Do you do your own taxes or have someone do them for you?
My momma does it for me :)

It seems that's all for this Tuesday's linky party! I hope you guys all link up too :)

Must Love Monday #1

It's MONDAY! Which must mean it's time for Must Love Monday. Well, here are some things that I am absolutely loving today.

This little dude is sooooo cute. Naughty but cute!

I adore the fact that this show is back on as of tonight! I didn't get to watch it yet, though (waiting for ABC Family to get it online!), so no spoilers please!

I love that I finally got to use this baby today! All I did was sew little scrap fabric squares together in an attempt to make a mix-matched blanket. Turns out, I should've measured before. My lines are all different sizes and I was somewhat freakin' out about it (because I'm a huge perfectionist), but all shall be well.

Aren't these little guys the absolute cutest?!

I love that I got to talk to my best friend last night. And for a long time too. It was absolutely wonderful catching up.

And mostly, I love that Heavenly Father answers prayers

What do you love most today?

Think About It!: What do you look for in a Friend?

Ever since I was a teeny girl, this was the one question that people would ask. ALWAYS. What do you look for in a friend. Well, my answer as a teeny girl was probably this:
"Uhh...I dunno. Someone who will share their Barbies with me?"
or possibly even,
"Someone who is nice. And well let me have the li-hing mui from their shave ice."
Something along those lines, ya know?

And to be incredibly honest, I still don't really know what I look for in a friend. I'm extremely picky about people. I know, I know, it's horrible. But I've had many friends in the last few years of my life that have screwed me over. In fact, the people that screwed me over the most were my very best friends. I know. What kind of friend is that, right? So because of them, I sometimes have a hard time trusting people. Get it?

But thankfully, I have been blessed with some rather awesome people in my life. They are funny, honest, and kind, for the most part anyway. And of course I have my best friend.

His name is Brandon and we've been close for about three years now. And trust me, it has been long enough. I can tell him everything (yes, even the gross, girly stuff) and I would trust him with my life. We have our fights, because we are like brother and sister (so no one go get any ideas about how we should date. it's not gonna happen. EVER). He understands me like no one else in the world. He doesn't make fun of my ideas, but he's not afraid to laugh at me and tell me that I'm being stupid. He always, always listens to me when I need to vent. He is flippin' awesome.

If I could have a billion friends like my brotha, I'd be set. My group of friends are varied and our personalities are so different, but we all connect somehow. I like people who will listen to me (which is why I like you guys 'cause obviously if you're following me and reading my stuff, then you must enjoy the things I'm saying). I look for friends who are funny. a sense of humor is super important! if you can't laugh then we can't be friends (although i understand there is also a time for seriousness). I like people that are honest and won't talk smack about me behind my back. seriously, if you want to know something about me come ask ME about it. I like people who are real. Fake people annoy the living day lights out of me. Seriously, why would you waste your time being like that? I like people who are chill but can find a way to have a good time even if we're just sitting around talking story.

I try my best to like most people, and I usually do. I'm just the kind of  person who will be a little bit of a loner at first. But, I warm up to people quickly (as long as they get me. it's really hard to get an aquarius. trust me, even i don't get me sometimes)!

So, time for you to THINK about it. What do you look for in a friend?

S&T Saturday: 25 Random Things You Should Know About Me If We're Going to Be BFF!

Because I am smart like that (but more lazy than smart, I'd say...) I am combining two linky parties into one AWESOME post. Yeah, I'm a genius I know. You can send flowers later!

Anyway, Little Miss Momma is hosting a link up called "Things You Should Know If We're Going to Be BFF" aaaannddd The Idea Room is having a link up about the Random Facts about you. Combine those two together and now you've got, say it with me y'all, "25 Random Things You Should Know About me If We're Going to Be BFF." I am linking up to both partays, so if you want to play along, click on the links and come join!

Now, on with the show...

yes, yes i was the cutest baby in the entire universe, thanks for noticing =P

01. I am the oldest, the only, and the youngest child. Confused? Let me explain...I am the oldest of my mom's four children, the only child between my mom & biological dad (I have limited contact with him, but I am also his only child), and I am considered the youngest of my maternal grandparent's children because they raised me. Yep, it's pretty crazy. Oh, I am also the oldest grandchild on my mom's side and the oldest great-grandchild on my maternal grandma's side. And yes I do have a lot of the "oldest child" traits. I can be pretty darn bossy.

02. I only went to pre-school for a few months before my Tutu (mom's grandma) made them pull me out and I went back to staying at home all day with her. And you know what, it didn't screw me up any bit. I actually developed quickly, but I was kinda shy. Which is why I didn't get into Kamehameha (we'll talk about that later) in Kindergarten.

03. I've never broken a bone in my life *knock on wood*.

04. Because I always hung out with adults when I was younger, I could always relate better to people who were older than me. I was really advanced for my age and I kind of had a harder time making friends because I was slightly a know-it-all.

05. As I kid, I preferred staying in the house and reading over going outside. I was still active in cheerleading and I rode my bike and roller skates with the neighborhood kids, but if given a choice, I would always choose to be inside with a book or playing pretend.

my siblings & i, minus the youngest, cyrus. he was...a surprise :)

06. I love to write, especially poems. I haven't written in a while, but I'm planning on starting a novel this year. I have no idea what it's going to be about yet, so if you have any ideas, send 'em on over =P

07. I'm psychic! OK, not entirely, but I have top of the line intuition skills and my irony level is off the charts. I'm the type of person that'll dream things and then it'll happen. Deja vu really happens to me. And I always just know things, always.

08. I have an incredibly addictive personality. When I like something, I really, really like it for a while, and then the obsession tapers off a bit. I don't like things just half-way, I'm either really into it, or not into it at all. I get into things really easily and I get super excited about things, even little things, so if you need someone to jump up and down because you just made your first sell on your etsy shop, I'm your girl!

09. My favorite salad is caesar. My favorite soup is creamy broccoli (in a bread bowl please!) and corn chowder. My favorite dip is spinach artichoke. My favorite fast food place is a tie between McDonalds and Taco Bell (but I love jack in a box). My absolute favorite dish is noodles (made in a variety of ways: spaghetti, cake noodles, fried noodles, chow mein, etc). My favorite dessert is....uhm, anything. My favorite fruits are bananas and strawberries. My favorite veggies are celery and broccoli. And I think cookies are bomb dot com.

10. I am not a very experimental cook. I like to follow recipes exactly, and I'm not the type to be like "BAM! Let's try adding tootsie rolls to the lasagna and see how it turns out." Whenever I try be an experimental cook, my meals come out crap. But I always get huge recipes when I follow recipes. It's probably because people who follow recipes actually know what they're doing.

me with each of my siblings. my sister was a bald baby. so was my brother cyrus. & cj was a cute little boy.

11. I lived in a dorm in high school, but not in college.

12. My favorite number of all time is 12. That's actually really important to know. I'm also a total freak about even numbers. And even-ness in general.

13. I only went to a public school for two years (in intermediate school) and I still say that it was the biggest realty check of my life. I went to two different private schools for elementary, then public school, and then I got in to a pretty prestigious private school for high school

14. Now we talk about Kamehameha. I am an alumnus of the Kamehameha Schools. Which is a privately funded school in Hawaii for Hawaiian Students. Meaning, you have to prove that you have Native Hawaiian ancestry to go there. Kamehameha has gone through a lot of lawsuits claiming that the admissions policy is racist, but they actually do a lot to help non-Hawaiians and Hawaiians alike. That's probably a discussion for another day. The school is funded by a trust that Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was in the Kamehameha line (Kamehameha was the first king of the Hawaiian Island chain. He conquered the separate islands and made it one nation. One day we shall have a lesson on Hawaiian history, lol). She died of breast cancer & never had any children, instead she gave her land and monies to the children of Hawaii through a trust and a board of trustees whose job it was to erect a school to build the children of Hawaii into "industrious men and women."

15. I speak Hawaiian pretty fluently. I also speak Hawaii Creole Pidgin. My goal is to learn spanish, japanese and french one day. And also Maori.

I was a cheerleader from age 6-practically High School.

16. I wanted to cheer so badly in high school, but I was way intimidated. My school has ranked nationally in cheerleading competitions for so long, they took first place like every single year I was in HS too.

17. I have a lisp. Don't tease me. (It's cause I had braces. I never had a lisp pre-braces, but after they came off, I couldn't say "s" and "th" to save my life. It's a lot better now, but it's noticeable sometimes.

18. I like digital scrap booking more than regular scrap booking (although I really, really want to get in to regular scrap booking...maybe in 2012, lol). I just do not have the patience to sit and pick what kind of materials and papers to use and stuff. Maybe, if I had a Silhouette....

19. I really like random websites like GraphJam, Failbook, & I just started reading a new one called Regretsy. And also list websites like Listverse and TopTenz.

20. I live in a small town and I know that I want to eventually settle down in a smaller town, but I love big cities. I fell in absolute love with Las Vegas when I went in December and I know that I will adore NYC, but just to visit.

High School was awesome and horrible at the same time. As usual.

21. My favorite color is green because green is the best color in the whole entire universe :P.

22. I can be extremely photogenic at times. I actually love having my picture taken and I would love to be a model (not skinny or tall enough. boo you modeling people). It's the whole oldest child need for attention thing.

23. I plan on celebrating my 21st birthday sober. It's all part of being a mormon girl. Besides, even if I wasn't mormon, I'm not a huge party girl and I probably would have chosen just to chill at home over going out and getting all drunk and stuff.

24. Did I mention that I'm turning 21 this year? I love birthdays more than most things (besides new years). In my mind, birthdays are more special than other gift-giving holidays because it focuses on the individual. It's that person's special day to shine.

25. I can be the best friend that you've ever asked for. I listen, I don't judge. I'm extremely level headed and tend to stay calm when people are having major freak outs. I'm loving and I'm big on helping people figure out their wants. I don't use people, and I pretty much like everyone. Unless you're mean to me.

i love traveling! one day, i will travel the world!

So there you have it folks, everything you've ever needed to know about me (or maybe not, haha).  So, can we be BFFLs now?

January 1, 2011

In 2011, I Resolve...

Uhm, to sit on my butt every single day doing nothing? Sounds good? Yeah, I think so do :)

In all honesty, I really hate New Years Resolutions. I love everything about New Year including the idea of a fresh start, but I hate the whole Resolutions part of it. Last year, I made my "resolutions" so peculiar that I don't even know how I survived 20 minutes with them! I spent so much time in 2010 worrying about it that I honestly had no time just to enjoy.

So, this year, I'm making my life a little easier. My goal is to be the best me that I can be. I'm not holding myself to any form of measurement, because only I know what I can do to be better. And it's not just a one day change everything about my life project. I know that getting to be the best me is something that will take time, but it will be easy.

Yep, it should be easy as pie! My whole goal here is to do something once a day that'll improve my life in some way. It could be reading my scriptures in the morning and giving me a positive start to the day (I want to do this one more constantly though)! Or even looking up some make-up tutorials online and practicing on my make-up (I don't wear make-up very often and I like the way I look without it, but I do want to try and wear make-up more). You guys get the gist right?

I have another goal for my two babies (aka my blogs people!). In this one, the personal one, I want to be more scheduled about posts. I mean, I love the whole personal aspect of it too, but I want to keep it personal while also not making it too boring, ya dig? So here are my thoughts for the blog:

must love mondays-admit it, monday is usually the most hectic day of the week! everything is going on and it's crazy. but monday is actually my favorite day of the week! like the whole new year thing, I enjoy the whole fresh start aspect that monday brings. on mondays i'll be posting about things that i am looking forward to in the coming week or things that i enjoyed in the week past!
link-up tuesday-since most of the linky parties i take part in are on tuesdays, i'll be dedicating tuesday posts to those link-ups!
wishlist wednesday-i am thinking about making this one a linky party in itself! wishlist wednesday will be all about the things that are on my wishlist and yours too! it doesn't even have to be a material thing! wishlist wednesday is all about what you are wishing for, even if your wish is for prince william to drop kate and marry you instead =P (just for the record, i think kate is gorgeous! and they will have beautiful babies. marry your kid off instead!).
thankful thursdays-i think this one is pretty self explanatory. this one is all about being grateful for the things in life. i know that this will be a mixed media blog post thing.
link-up friday-again, a lot of linky-parties happen on fridays, so I'll link up and answer any questions on link-up fridays!
show and tell saturday-this is going to up in the air! it'll either be super random posts or i'll share a crafty project that i've been working on, or some recipes that i love. i'll even share pictures from my vacation (yeah, i'm late. it'll happen soon) or random things about my life or that i found interesting with y'all!
think about it sundays-think about it sunday can either be really serious or really playful and fun. i think for the most part it'll be between those variants. sometimes, i may post about something i learned in church or about a world issue or anything that has been weighing on my mind. or i may also dig through my bag off journal prompts (which are really just random questions) and i'll answer those! i'll also challenge you all to "think about it" too, so please stop by on sundays!

As for the tay irl reads, well, I'm not going to have anything too structured, but I do want to include more posts while I'm reading and stuff!

And lastly, I want you guys to hold me to both my goal and my whole blogging thing! Please? It's simple, really. Just the fact that I know you are all expecting me to be a better me will help me stick with that goal! But if you find something that you know will help me be a better me (like a cute make-up or hair tutorial, or a youtube dance you think i should learn) send it to me! I promise I won't be offended! And as for the blog part, don't be afraid to scold me if I go off track! Of course there will be times when I won't follow the schedule exactly, let's face it, I do have a life (not really, no...). But if it's been like weeks and weeks since I've done a show and tell saturday or something, then just comment or e-mail me and be like "hey, what's up...i wanted to see your pictures of *insert cool thing here* for show and tell saturday!."

In return, I also want to help you with any goals that you've set for yourself and for your blog or even for your etsy shops (anyone need a reviewer? i'll do it!!). Or even if you just need someone to talk to, just let me know! I'm always here to help you in any way that I can, be it lending an ear or whatever, let me know!!
