Weekend Happies!

Mamarazzi is seriously one of my favorite bloggers of ALL time.
(that kinda sounded like a Kanye moment, huh?)
Well, if Mamarazzi was up for a VMA & someone else won,
I'd totally pull a Kanye West. Seriously.

Anyways, since she's is awesome & has awesome link ups,
I'm almost always linking up over there.
And today is time for another link up!
My Weekend Happy List!

Photobucket

First of all, it's the weekend! Which is reason enough to be happy :)
But here are some other things that are making me smile this weekend....

NYC Nail Polish:  i love NYC Nail Polish. It's seriously my favorite brand. It's cheap & long lasting. That is my kind of perfect. I just got 3 new NYC brand colors that I can't wait to use!

Ward Conference Weekend: This weekend is my ward's conference! Which means conference dinner tonight! The RS is going to be dancing to Cupid's Shuffle, which I'm not too keen about though. I love the song, but not for RS.

The Last Song: I'm currently reading this book for my book review blog and I love it! I fell in love with the movie (and cried and cried while watching it), so I of course had to read the book. Plus, I'm kinda obsessed with Miley Cyrus. She's a bad influence on little kids, but IDK I sorta love her.

Speak Now by Taylor Swift: I don't think anyone on here understands my love for T. Swizzle. Seriously, if I knew Tay in real life, we'd totally be BFFL!

Awesome Bloggy Friends!: I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you by reading your blogs, and the awesome comments that you send me. I love all of your comments & I do take the time to read them (uhm...almost obsessively) and I always try to respond!

The way this tie turned out!: I was seriously having major issues with this tie when I first started to make it. Like, I wanted to throw my sewing machine out the window & toss in the towel on sewing forever. But after coming back to it with a clear mind, I finished it and I love it! I guess that just goes to show that persistance and patience really pays off! Plus I know Elder M. will love it!

My birthday is in two days! It's so funny, I'm unusually calm about this birthday. Usually, I have a countdown going on facebook from January 1st, but this year I didn't count down at all. I'm excited for my birthday, of course, but I'm just really calm about it. Does this mean I'm geting old?! Haha ;P

those are my weekend happies!
what's on your happy list?

Today I Am Grateful For...

friends who always know what to say when I need it.

the scriptures & words of the prophets, that guide me to
the right paths, even when i try to resist.

my comfy bed that takes care of me when i feel icky.

& i am especially grateful for the fact that
I was smart enough to keep journals over the past few years.

It's so interesting to go back a few years to read
& to see what I was like
& how much I've changed.

I've been keeping journals since fifth grade,
with a few years missing, here & there.

Sixth grade me was especially hilarious.
I was always a very imaginitive kid,
but i'm pretty sure I was borderline crazy in sixth grade.
Seriously.
I thought I was going to marry Harry Potter.
Or at least the dude from Dream Street,
do you even remember them?
Yeah, Jesse McCartney was in Dream Street.
He's the cute blonde one in the grey shirt.
I was going to marry him (I still can, technically...)

The entries changed very little as I grew up.
I mention marrying someone in every journal I own.
Of course, the people have changed over the years.
But it hasn't changed much since 2009 to now.
Which means that I've liked
(or loved, whatever.)
the elder dude for three years now.
WOW. I just realized that.
Crazy Stuff.

Anyway, as much as I have changed
from the time I was in sixth grade til now,
an almost 21 year old (wow, again)
I've essentially stayed the same person.
I still believe in love.
I still have the need to be loved
& to love in return.

It's amazing how things can change so much,
but still remain the same.
I'm thankful that through all the changes that have happened in my life,
I've still remained true to who I am.
I still know who I am & what I want,
I'm still me!

(and me is way hilarious. old me, new me. whatever, i am hilarious!)

P.S. Did you keep a journal when you were younger? Do you ever look back at them now and laugh at how silly you were as a kid or are you shocked at how much you've changed since then? Feel free to comment and let me know!

Think About It!: What do you look for in a Friend?

Ever since I was a teeny girl, this was the one question that people would ask. ALWAYS. What do you look for in a friend. Well, my answer as a teeny girl was probably this:
"Uhh...I dunno. Someone who will share their Barbies with me?"
or possibly even,
"Someone who is nice. And well let me have the li-hing mui from their shave ice."
Something along those lines, ya know?

And to be incredibly honest, I still don't really know what I look for in a friend. I'm extremely picky about people. I know, I know, it's horrible. But I've had many friends in the last few years of my life that have screwed me over. In fact, the people that screwed me over the most were my very best friends. I know. What kind of friend is that, right? So because of them, I sometimes have a hard time trusting people. Get it?

But thankfully, I have been blessed with some rather awesome people in my life. They are funny, honest, and kind, for the most part anyway. And of course I have my best friend.

His name is Brandon and we've been close for about three years now. And trust me, it has been long enough. I can tell him everything (yes, even the gross, girly stuff) and I would trust him with my life. We have our fights, because we are like brother and sister (so no one go get any ideas about how we should date. it's not gonna happen. EVER). He understands me like no one else in the world. He doesn't make fun of my ideas, but he's not afraid to laugh at me and tell me that I'm being stupid. He always, always listens to me when I need to vent. He is flippin' awesome.

If I could have a billion friends like my brotha, I'd be set. My group of friends are varied and our personalities are so different, but we all connect somehow. I like people who will listen to me (which is why I like you guys 'cause obviously if you're following me and reading my stuff, then you must enjoy the things I'm saying). I look for friends who are funny. a sense of humor is super important! if you can't laugh then we can't be friends (although i understand there is also a time for seriousness). I like people that are honest and won't talk smack about me behind my back. seriously, if you want to know something about me come ask ME about it. I like people who are real. Fake people annoy the living day lights out of me. Seriously, why would you waste your time being like that? I like people who are chill but can find a way to have a good time even if we're just sitting around talking story.

I try my best to like most people, and I usually do. I'm just the kind of  person who will be a little bit of a loner at first. But, I warm up to people quickly (as long as they get me. it's really hard to get an aquarius. trust me, even i don't get me sometimes)!

So, time for you to THINK about it. What do you look for in a friend?

2010 {Candids}

Here's to 2010! My year in photos...
January 2010: Went to O'ahu for Stake Conference. Met Elder Cook of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles. Also, Abe was there. We snapped this picture for my Elder Dude.
February 2010. Tsunami day. Yes, I did feel that it was necessary to take a picture of my super cute outfit on Tsunami day. Mmkay.

March 2010. Went on my very first field trip as a "kumu" to Pu'u Moi ranch in Hamakua on the big island and got this shot. Big Island has the most beautiful waterfalls.

April 2010. Glee came back! Enough said!

May 2010. This picture refused to rotate. Anyway went to the beach with this cutie pie.

June 2010. Became Mama to this beautiful baby girl. She was soooo litttlee and sooooo cute!!! Well, she's still little and cute but not this little and cute!

July 2010. Hung out with this beautiful lady. We went to our first bon dance with a bunch of our other friends and even ran into our high school speech teacher. it was AWESOME!

August 2010. Beautiful sunrise over Bellows in Waimanalo, O'ahu.

September 2010. Hung out with this cutie pie! My baby brother, Cyrus. Too bad he's 6 and not a baby anymore!

October 2010. Went to the Justin Bieber concert and threw out all of my previous thoughts of him. He really is a great live performer and the boy can dance. Plus, he's pretty darn adorable too!

November 2010. The La'ie Hawai'i Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was rededicated! I got to go to open house three times and it was amazing.

December 2010. WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY FREAKIN POTTER. enough said. :)

I have this set to post at 10:00pm Hawaii time, but by then everywhere else in the world will have rung in 2011 already, so Happy New Year everyone! (How is it in the future?)

I pray that God will bless you and your family with a wonderful, healthy and prosperous year in 2011!

True Friendship, Whatever that Means.

Something that has been on my mind lately is Friendship. Probably because I'm going through a stage in my life where I'm trying to figure out who my real friends are. I thought that part of my life was over, but I guess that it never is.
Ever since I was really young, I had a really hard time making friends who really understand me. I'm not an easy person to understand, something I blame on my Aquarian ways. I mean, if you read anything about Aquarians, you'll know that they're kind of weird and out there people who prefer being by themselves anyway. That's basically me in a nutshell. I prefer reading and being alone over hanging out with a whole bunch of people, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to make friends.
I do want friends. But I think what I want is too much to ask for. What I really want is a real friend. A friend that will listen to me complain about how much my life sucks right now. A friend that will also fan girl with me over stuff like Glee and the new Harry Potter movie that will come out. A friend that will talk to me about the random instances I have with the boys in my life. I just want a real friend. A true friend. Someone who will listen to me and love me for everything. Someone who will listen to me cry at 3 am. I'm not saying that I don't have friends like that. I do, and I'm grateful for them, but I don't have a friend who is all of that for me.
I thought that moving back to Oahu would be a change. I thought that I'd make new friends and have better ones, but that was a lot to ask for, I guess. With the exception of a very select few, the people that I've met here in church/YSA haven't been the best example of friends. They're gossipy, mean and controlling. They don't care about me or what I'm going through, but they expect me to show up and hang out with them. They're not the kind of people that I want to hang out with, though. They talk bad and laugh at people and then they act completely different to their faces. That's one thing that I definitely can't stand. I mean, I try to be nice and just hang out and stuff, but it's hard, you know? I've had such bad luck with friends the last few years a part of me wonders if it's even worth it...
Anyway, readers, what's your definition of a true friend? How do you make friends and stuff? Any suggestions for the friend dilemma?
