Decisions of the Important Sort.

I usually HATE doing multiple posts in a day.
So, I'm sorry.
But I needed to write this post.
Because I need your help with something.
Don't worry, it's not horrible,
I just need some advice, from unbiased people.

OK, so I'm doing what every 20yo college student does,
Contemplating life & where the next step will take me.
In my contemplation, I decided that I wanted to get away
Just for a little while, you know?
For a long time, I wanted to serve a mission for my church,
But recently, I decided against it.
While serving a mission is amazing & such a blessing, it's not for me.
Not right now at least.

So then, I decided that I would apply for the Disney College Internship thing.
Buuut....I didn't make the first round of interviews.
Which is okay.
I mean, it's not like I'm totally in love with Disney
& it's not like my g-ma put down 20,000 bucks (not all at one time)
to purchase a Disney Vacation Club Membership.
I mean, no hard feelings at all :)
It's just not what Heavenly Father wanted for me.

Well, now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do next.
I know for sure that I want to continue school.
But I don't want to go to UH Manoa
And HPU is a little too expensive for me...

So, I've contemplated the BYU schools.
Specifically BYU Hawaii & BYU Provo.
But, I can't apply to either school until the summer,
Which means I'd have to try for Winter Term
& which means that I wouldn't be in school in the fall.

I love both schools,
but I'm more taken with BYU Provo.
I mean, BYUH is beautiful, but it wouldn't be a big change.
Well, sure it would be 1.5 hours away from home,
But still close enough.
I love everything about BYU Provo.
Except the price.
I mean, I have no money.
Not even to attend BYUH.

But if I took the fall semester off,
I could work & start selling stuff on my etsy shop.
I know that a Church School is what Heavenly Father
wants of me.
As soon as I got denied the Disney thing, I prayed
& immediately my thoughts were to check out the church schools.
But now how do I get there?
Nephi 3:7 is a favorite scripture of mine, so I know that
He wouldn't give me a commandment (or inspiration)
without giving me a way to get there.

I don't know.
What would you guys do?
Take the semester off and work to get to a church school
or
Just apply to UH Manoa where I know that I'll get in?
And which school would you rather go to?
BYU Hawaii or BYU Provo?

Those questions are more for the lds peeps.

So for everyone else, do you have any financial advice?
Any scholarship suggestions?
Anything having to do with money?
Budgeting tips?

I seriously need all the help I can get!

Thursday 5

I found a new linky party! And it seemed really fun & interesting, so I have to link up, of course.

You can too. Head on over to Nicole's blog to check out Thursday 5!

Blessed
Incredible
Productive
Elated
Happy

Today, I'm feeling blessed because of the wonderful people that I have in my life. My friends are awesome, my family is amazing & I love them.

I think that the miracle of life is incredible. My cousin is about to give birth to her first little one (it's a boy!) and she is absolutely glowing. She looks like she's about ready to pop, but I can't wait to meet her little one!

I was extremely productive today! Well, kind of. I finished my astronomy hw for the week & worked on my psychology 100 & dev. psychology outlines. Plus, I caught up on all of my blog readings :)

I am really looking forward to the future. Everything just seems to be looking up, and I really can't wait. I guess you can say that I'm pretty elated about things to come!

Happy  doesn't even begin to describe how I've been feeling lately. There have just been all around positive feelings around here and I love it!

What about you?

You Know You Love Me

So, the beautiful Little Miss Momma is having a linky party
that features all of our beautiful places.
AKA, take pictures of yourself,
Put them in a Blogpost
& then link up with LMM.

This is your chance to show the blog world exactly how
hot
you are.

Gorgeous right?
I know.
Especially that last one.
:)

Finally Done!

Last week, I started making a tie for a friend whose birthday is coming up soon. Said friend is currently serving a mission, so I try to send them things that they will use rather than things that they don't need at the time. For the Elder Dude, (whose birthday was in November) I asked my grandma to crochet him a scarf and a beenie. He's serving in Japan, where I'm sure it gets cold, so I figured it would be useful.

For other Elder Dude, let's call him Elder M, I decided to try my hand at sewing a tie! Since I got the sewing machine for Christmas, I decided that a tie would be useful. All missionaries need a good tie! So, I went to work last week, because I want to get it mailed before his birthday (Feb 2). The first day was easy, I just cut out the pattern and did my basting stitches. And then it got stressful. I couldn't figure out how to sew it and my seam ripper became my very best friend! So I put it away for the weekend and I decided to get back to it today.

And it was way better! Going into the project with a clear mind is really what I needed. I did everything exactly right (with the help of google) and I am so pleased with the final result. I was going to write in his birthday card (jokingly, of course): "Dear Elder M, I'm sorry this tie is ugly, it was the first one I've ever made. I guess you're just lucky like that." But now, I don't even have to write that!

Here's the end result:

After a while, I got smart and turned the flash on :)

I adore this material! I wish I had more, then I could make a matching skirt :)

"Podagee" Tuesday

In Hawaii, people will call you "podagee" (portuguese) if you talk to much. Because, apparently portuguese people like to talk and share their life styles with everyone. I am portuguese, which means that people automatically assume that I can talk a lot. Which, of course, I can. Which is why I'm nicknaming today "Podagee" Tuesday, since it's link up day! And I will be "talking" a lot :)

1. What’s your favorite color to paint your nails?

Funny you should ask this question, since I just splurged (okay, not really splurged, since they were only 93 cents each) on three new nail polish colors! It's been forever since I've gotten new nail polish. Anyway, I love painting my nails red, usually. But this time I bough a hot pink and a dark pink (and sparkly!) so I'm excited to try out the dark pink...

2. Do you like to sneeze?

Not really. I'm a kid who has suffered from allergic rhinitis throughout my years. And I would sneeze a lot. And I hated it.

3. How often do you fill up your car with gas?

every week or two weeks or so. It depends on how much we drive.

4. Were you named after anyone?

No. My first name is from a dream my mom had when she was pregnant with me (and in the Hawaiian culture, it is said that if you dream a name, you have to name your child that). My middle name was given to me by my mom's kumu hula (hula teacher).

5. Have you made any good recipes lately?

Er. No. But I've been dying to try out a few good ones!

6. What’s an easy money-saving tip that you use regularly?

Go to Wal Mart. LOL. I love Wal Mart. Seriously, they do have the lowest prices, and the Great Value brand stuff is pretty ah-mazing. Also, make sure you compare prices at places.

7. Would you rather have a sore throat or an ear ache?

Neither. Haha, well I guess sore throat.

8. Do you have any scars? What are they from?

I have scars on my legs from jumping (and falling) out of trees, as well as some from cheerleading and the typical childhood accidents. I also have one on my shin from a razor cut when I first started shaving my legs (it was traumatic enough to make me not want to shave for a while). Those are it really, for the most part, my scars have healed very well.

9. What are you “known for” in your circle of friends/family?

In my family, I'm the smart one who got in to Kamehameha. I'm also the baby sitter. Among my friends, I'm the one that you can count on to get excited for you no matter how minor the event is. My friend texted me because she thought that she'd missed 11:11 on 1-11-11, but it turns out she was on the phone with the guy she liked at the time and she told me because she knew that i'd get excited with her about that :)
10. How do you like to eat your pancakes?

I actually don't really like pancakes.

1. Do you use an alarm clock or some device to wake you up, or do you wake up on your own?
I can wake up on my own. My internal body alarm is ah-may-zing! I can just look at the clock and think "Okay, I'm going to wake up in15 minutes" and I can fall asleep and be up in 15 minutes. But sometimes, only if it's for something important, I'll use an alarm.
2. If you could go on any game show, which won would you choose?
Ahhh!! I love Game Shows. I want to go on either Lingo or Deal or No Deal. Or 1 Vs. 100. I love that show! I'd go on Baggage too, but not really. And the Newlywed Show, when I'm married one day. Yeah...I love GSN. Haha.
3. Do you prefer the weather to be hot or cold?
In between? I love cold weather at times, but I also like warm weather.
4.What color of clothing do you wear the most?
Green, usually. But lately, I've been wearing a lot of blue.
5. What is your favorite color?
Green!
