Random Thoughts While Waiting for GLEE to start (and throughout Glee too!)

This post is going to be extremely random, deal with it (:

  • OMG. Darren Criss on Glee tonight. I am so excited. Starkid+Glee=Love forever for us geek kids.
  • So, 'Aulani (Disney's new Resort in Honolulu) has a job opening for a Youth Counselor, a job that I really hoped would be open. I'm going to apply, so pray that I get the job, cause I could really use it!
  • So many awesome quotes on Glee tonight.
  • What does being selfless even mean? Hmm...will that be a future blog entry? We'll see!
  • I have a lot of cool stuff planned for the blog (or, at least what I think is cool, haha). So stay tuned for the revamping (again) of TayIRL.
  • Today, I am especially grateful for the plan of salvation and temples. I am grateful for the priesthood and the sealing powers that they have. I am glad that they are able to bind things not only here on this earth, but in heaven also. I know that families are forever. A simple truth that can hold us together through the roughest of times.
  • I love 20sb.And that's all I have to say about that.
  • I need to write an entry about my "realization" today. But I don't think I'm ready to write that yet...
Ok, that's all of the randomness my little head can put out for one night. Until next time, take care. Hold your loved ones for an extra moment tonight.

Lost In Thought Sunday: Happy Birthday Papa!! (and some thoughts from Church)

Welcome all to my very first themed blog entry. Let me explain a little about 'Lost In Thought Sunday.' Originally, I was going to call it Spiritual Sunday and I was going to share ideas, feelings, and talks from church. But I thought about it and realized that people don't necessarily want or need to hear my opinion about spiritual matters. Regardless, Sundays are still my most thoughtful and reflective days. Sunday is pretty much the only day that I can sit and really think about everything that happened. Which is why I decided to make the theme Lost In Thought. There will be some days where I'm feeling super spiritual and I'll want to talk about that, and there will be some days where I just want to talk about some world issue that has been on my mind. This way, I'm not just limited to spiritual things on Sundays.

For my first LiTS blog, I wanted to wish someone very, very important to me a very Happy Birthday!
Happy 65th Birthday Papa!

Today would have been IS my Grandpa's 65th birthday and I am sure that he is having a wonderful party up there in heaven with his parents and sisters, as well as other loved ones that aren't here on earth anymore.

Let me just tell you a little bit about my Papa. If you met him, I'm sure that you'd love him. Everyone did. He is loving and kind and always did things for people when asked. He raised my from the time that I was a baby and passed away about a month and a half short of my 18th birthday.
Last picture taken of me and my Papa at my Senior Luau, Oct. 2007

I'm not going to lie, his passing was really hard on me. Like I said, I was just a month away from my 18th birthday and about 5 months away from my High School graduation. I was upset. But, I didn't show it. That's where I was wrong. I tried to be too strong when I should have just been mad, sad and let the depression go. But in a way, I'm glad that I wasn't too bad. I think that I came out a stronger person. Either way, I still miss him and I cannot wait to see him again in Heaven.

This is where my gratitude for the church comes in. I'm so glad for the teachings of the church, especially the Plan of Salvation and Eternal famillies. I am  incredibly grateful that one day, not only will I get to see my grandpa today, but my children and my future husband will also get to meet him.

OK, now I just wanted to post a little blurb about some stuff that we talked about in church today. Let me just say that I am the youngest in my Relief Society class. I guess that's something everyone has to go through at some point though, huh?

Today, our RS president taught on President Monson's General RS meeting talk from General Conference last month. I didn't get the chance to read or listen to President Monson's talk, but hearing a lesson based off of it was great. I guess that the basic message that President Monson had was counseling the women not to judge. Personally, I think that our RS president was inspired to teach that message in our ward because we have a lot of problems with judgment and judgmental people in our ward. Having a lesson on not judging but only loving was a good thing.

In the talk, President Monson quotes Mother Teresa. I love Mother Teresa. She served God and she truly loved him. She was an inspired woman and she is an inspiration to me.

The lesson really made me look inward at myself and made me think about what I can do to change myself. I don't claim to be perfect, nor do I claim that I never pass judgment. That is definitely something that I need to work on, which is why I was grateful to have that lesson.

In our YSA class, we talked about repentance and becoming worthy. With the rededication of the La'ie Hawaii temple right around the corner, one of the things that has been a theme throughout the temple district and especially in our ward has been repentance. I always enjoy talking about repentance, just because it's something I'm going through right now and it's always good to be reassured that repentance is in fact a gift and not a punishment.

Well, those are my thoughts for the day. I hope that you all have a wonderful week!

Stuff to Blog About...

So, I've decided to stick around in this whole blogging world thing. And like most beginning bloggers, I feel like I have absolutely nothing interesting to talk about. It's not that I'm not interesting (don't go bursting my bubble there now!), it's more like I just don't know what to say. Trust me, I can be witty, funny and super sarcastic. Now I just have to learn how to get that across on the interwebs.

Soooo....I am taking your suggestions! What are some things that you blog/vlog about? I've been reading some of the blogs that I've subscribed to (most of which are mommy blogs. i'm not even close to being a mama, so scratch that one) and everyone seems to have so many interesting things to talk about. I have some entries that I'll be working on and even a theme day, but I just need some suggestions.

Here are some things that I really do not feel like talking about right now:

1. Relationships/Men/Boys/Romance. I can only hope that this is self explanatory. Let's just say that the whole romance thing isn't going so well for me right now.
2. Politics. I don't talk politics. So there (:

Hmm...actually those are pretty much the only things that I'm against talking about. And I have a feeling that I'll give in to the whole relationship talk sooner rather than later....

Ah well, if you have any suggestions about blog entries and what I should write about, please leave me a comment. I'll be so grateful that I'll probably use any suggestion I get!

Revamped!

I have just a few things on my mind today, but first, did you notice?! My blog is completely revamped! You do not understand how much I slaved to create the blog into what it is today.

Nah, just kidding.

The new background and banner is courtesy of The Cutest Blog On The Block, with a lot of playing around and screwing things up and then figuring it out again by ME. No, but really.

I'm not very good at all that fancy blog design stuff. It's not that I CAN'T do it, it's just that I don't have the patience to sit around and figure out where to put stuff and what to put where, and what not. Hey, don't blame me. I am from the Generation of Lunchables and Instant Dinners. I like things ready made.

Haha, well, maybe one day I'll try my hand at sitting and designing an awesome blog layout. One day, sometime in the far, far future. When I'm not juggling school work, romance issues and a crazy busy home life.

So I'm guessing that blog thing is going to happen...uhhmm...next to never then!

In other news, I just thought that I would let you all know that in just 19 wonderful days my family and I will be off to vacation in Florida and Las Vegas! It'll be my first time going to either place, so you know I'm excited. And don't you worry, I'll be keeping you all updated during my pre-travel and travel adventures. Hopefully with a vlog coming soon!

XOXO,

Thankful Thursday: Today I'm Grateful For...

Lately, I've been a huge Negative Nancy. I know. I apologize for that. Today, I remembered that it is important to be thankful, even when things seem to be, well, not so good. I am a personal believer in the idea that when people are grateful and acknowledge their blessings, they become more aware of the good in their lives. I need to be more aware of the good in my life, so I am officially making tonight Thankful Thursday. So here goes:
Today, I am Grateful For...
  • Letters from Missionaries. If you follow me on Tumblr, or even on Twitter, then you'll know that I absolutely love getting letters. Especially letters from my missionary friends. It's not often that I receive letters from them, which is understandable since they are super busy spreading the word, but when I do, I get super excited. I love hearing about their adventures, it makes me feel as though I'm right next to them the whole time. I currently have about 10 or so friends who are out serving right now. I miss them, but I know that what they're doing is good and amazing and I'm grateful for the time they are taking to serve the Lord. But, I am especially grateful for the time they take out of their busy schedules to write to me.
  • The Temple. I got to visit the Open House for the Laie temple a few weeks ago and I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it was. I'm grateful that one day I will be able to go there and to be sealed to my future husband (whomever he may be, lol) for time and all eternity.
  • Repentance and the atonement of Christ. I think that in order to truly understand repentance and atonement, you need to understand it personally. It's something that I'm just beginning to understand, and I'm grateful for that.
  • Dr. Ho, my doctor since I was about 13. Now let me tell you, I love her. She's the best doctor in the world. Without her, I'd be dying of migraines and strained muscles. True story.
Now, in order to avoid sounding all stuck up and too "mormon" and good girl, here are some kind of silly things that I'm grateful for too. Because hey, the things that we're grateful for should definitely be things that make us smile too!
  • Li Hing Mui . Oh, my dear li hing mui, what would I do without you? You make my life just a little sweeter, with a touch of salty too. You're the perfect combination of sugar and salt that I need, especially when I'm badly PMSing. I can eat you regular or I can eat you in powder form on my fruits and candy. I love you li hing mui, life would be so worthless without you.
  • Family Guy. I just started watching Family Guy a few weeks ago when I saw that Seasons 1-8 or whatever were on Netflix Instant watch. And OMG, I fell in love. Family Guy is probably one of the funniest shows that I've seen, ever. It's the perfect mix of stupid and funny and pop culture, which I love.
  • Fluffy and warm bath towels. Don't you just love the feeling of getting out of a cool shower and wrapping up in a warm and big, fluffy towel? I do. It's an amazing feeling.
  • My puppy, LadyLuvs. Seriously, I don't know what I would do without my puppy. She is the cutest. And although she doesn't want to be my cuddle buddy, she always makes me feel better when things in my life are Bleh. She always has kisses for me when I'm crying and I know that she's always excited to see me when I get home. I love her.

True Friendship, Whatever that Means.

Something that has been on my mind lately is Friendship. Probably because I'm going through a stage in my life where I'm trying to figure out who my real friends are. I thought that part of my life was over, but I guess that it never is.
Ever since I was really young, I had a really hard time making friends who really understand me. I'm not an easy person to understand, something I blame on my Aquarian ways. I mean, if you read anything about Aquarians, you'll know that they're kind of weird and out there people who prefer being by themselves anyway. That's basically me in a nutshell. I prefer reading and being alone over hanging out with a whole bunch of people, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to make friends.
I do want friends. But I think what I want is too much to ask for. What I really want is a real friend. A friend that will listen to me complain about how much my life sucks right now. A friend that will also fan girl with me over stuff like Glee and the new Harry Potter movie that will come out. A friend that will talk to me about the random instances I have with the boys in my life. I just want a real friend. A true friend. Someone who will listen to me and love me for everything. Someone who will listen to me cry at 3 am. I'm not saying that I don't have friends like that. I do, and I'm grateful for them, but I don't have a friend who is all of that for me.
I thought that moving back to Oahu would be a change. I thought that I'd make new friends and have better ones, but that was a lot to ask for, I guess. With the exception of a very select few, the people that I've met here in church/YSA haven't been the best example of friends. They're gossipy, mean and controlling. They don't care about me or what I'm going through, but they expect me to show up and hang out with them. They're not the kind of people that I want to hang out with, though. They talk bad and laugh at people and then they act completely different to their faces. That's one thing that I definitely can't stand. I mean, I try to be nice and just hang out and stuff, but it's hard, you know? I've had such bad luck with friends the last few years a part of me wonders if it's even worth it...
Anyway, readers, what's your definition of a true friend? How do you make friends and stuff? Any suggestions for the friend dilemma?
